Dr. Mary Mercado is a native Houstonian. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas
at San Antonio in 1987. She obtained her M.D. with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in 1992
and completed her Internal Medicine Residency in 1995 where she was the Chief Medical Resident.
Her three years of specialization training for Cardiovascular Disease was done in San Antonio at
The University of Texas Health Science Center and completed in 1999.
Dr. Mercado is Board Certified for Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. She also has
specialty training in Nuclear Cardiology. She sees patients primarily in our Webster Office and has
admitting privileges at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, Christus St John Hospital, and Mainland
Medical Center. In addition to practicing non-invasive cardiology, Dr. Mercado is experienced in
invasive cardiology, implantable pacemakers, and implantable loop recorders. She became affiliated
with Southeast Houston Cardiology in June 2008.
