| Tonya Cochran is a native
Texan. She received her BSN degree from the University of Texas
at Tyler in 1986. She is also credentialed as a registered sonographer
for adult echocardiography through the American Registry of Diagnostic
Medical Sonographers since 1993 and an exercise specialist through
the American College of Sports Medicine as of 1999.
Prior to joining Southeast Houston Cardiology, Ms. Cochran worked
at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. While at
the University of Texas she helped implement the cardiac rehabilitation
program and developed protocols for transesophageal echocardiograms
and dobutamine stress echocardiography. She also assisted in training
physicians to interpret echocardiograms and stress tests.
Her most important current responsibility requires coordinating
the clinical and nursing staff at Southeast Houston Cardiology.
She also assists with clinical duties by performing sonograms and
supervising stress tests.
